Pollen Season is Here
It’s Pollen Season !
Charged with illustrating a story on the pollen season, I illustrated it outrageously normal for Tallahassee and north Florida!
It took three days to perfect the color of my talcum powder and another half afternoon to set the strobes, decorate the model and shoot. I shot it on 2 1/4 film, yes film. It took not only the creativity to conceive and execute a shoot but also one had to know how to process large format transparency and black & white films then send the slides out for analogue post production and color separations. Digital post production for reproduction has taken the place of film, chemicals and color separations.
As companies struggling with the down economy try to save money, the sucessful have learned that their advertising or marketing dollars are best spent separating their brand or product from the competition now, more now than ever. While it is hard to beat free, if free doesn’t communicate or sell, it drags the rest of your advertising and promotional dollars down.
Cover or hide the photographs in any corporate report, advertisement or promotional campaign leaving just the copy. What makes that copy stand out from all the other campaigns with only copy? It the photograph and the information it conveys that makes the difference. Stripping the quality from your photography to save a few dollars is like stripping the heart of the campaign.
Make your audience take note throughout pollen season and beyond.
